Sunrise emails obtained

By Steve Koczela

The Village has released about 1,800 emails in response to my open records request.  A large portion of them are unrelated to the Sunrise development, due to the way I formatted my request (i.e. anything containing the words "Sunrise", "Riverfront", etc.)

I am sorting through them to find what relates to Sunrise.  Once I have done that, I will post them for your perusal.

If I remember correctly, Open Record Requests cost 25 cents per page.  As you got 1800 pages from the Village --- you had to put out $450 of your own money in pursuit of this issue.  I salute you for your involvement and commitment.

Seeing how much you have -- and are -- contributing to Shorewood, it is a shame that you were turned down by the Village Board for an appointment to an open position, and that the Demographic Vote pattern in Shorewood did not put you on the Board in the election you ran in.

No one on the Board, to my knowledge, has the commitment and dedication you have shown.

Hi Dave -

Thank you very much for your kind words and support.

In this particular case, Village Manage Chris Swartz conducted the open records request free of charge.  He mentioned to me that he wanted to avoid the appearance that there is anything to hide in relation to Sunrise.  He also delivered the emails on CD, so he avoided the copying charge that sometimes comes along with these requests.
