What is the Adopt-A-Park Program?
The Germantown Park and Recreation Department’s Adopt-A-Park program is designed to encourage the community to get involved and keep Germantown’s parks clean, attractive, and safe for everyone. This program offers the opportunity for citizens to get more involved in their community in a way that promotes pride, appreciation, and awareness.
Who can participate?
The Adopt-A-Park Program is open to individuals, neighborhood associations, civic groups, religious organizations, service organizations, schools, businesses, and other community organizations throughout the Village of Germantown.
Benefits of the Adopt-A-Park Program
Community Involvement – The Adopt-A-Park Program provides opportunities for businesses, community groups and individuals to assist in the maintenance of parks, trails, and open spaces. As a volunteer you will have the opportunity to donate your time and services to the community and enjoy the results of your work.
Economic – You can help enhance and maintain our public lands through clean-up efforts, weeding, tree planting, and other projects while assisting the Park and Recreation Department in making tax dollars stretch farther. The economic benefit could also be seen with more people wanting to live in this healthy and beautiful environment.
Environmental – Volunteer efforts and involvement in public lands increases public awareness of the importance of protecting our natural resources, generates pride in our park system, and demonstrates a commitment to the environment.
Individual – What better feeling is there than knowing that you made a difference? You can make a difference in the esthetics of your community, health of the environment, and the sense of pride people have in our parks system. Volunteering keeps you active and outdoors, gaining the many health benefits of an active lifestyle.
