The Senior and Saturday Soiree connection

Just 32 days till Millions of Dollars Tuesday

I should have thought of this angle when I wrote Déjà vu: It's 'Smokes for Votes' all over again!, that senior citizens love a free meal! I am just not quite old enough to make that connection, yet. I am guessing the fact that 17.6% of Brookfield residents are over 65 years old did not slip the school district's attention.

But one reader kindly brought me up to speed, "If you ever want to go after the elderly vote, free lunch or munchies will do it, and they will be there early to be at the head of the line." Who can blame them? It is a chance to get out of the house and have a free munch. They are on fixed incomes after all.

The reader also mentioned something I did think of: The controversy over VK and the meal and wheels deal (dinner and transportation for his senior apartment residents) over to Central High School for the Swanson Swap Town Hall Vote.

I hope if seniors participate in the free food fest they will just eat and run and remember why the free meal is so appealing: because their high taxes are bleeding them dry!
