Work Out, not Bail Out

By Kyle Prast
Friday, Sep 26 2008, 11:06 AM

There is lots of chatter today about how Sen. John McCain squashed the soon-to-pass bail out plan. (So much for the Dems. calling him Bush 3)**

Hmm, the Democrats are in the majority, why don't they just pass it on their own?*

Because they don't have the votes in their own party.

Truth is, the bail out bill the media said was near passing, was NOT anywhere near approval. House Republicans were not consulted on the Paulson bail out bill.

In addition, Senator Lindsey Graham was on Fox last night and explained that part of the bail out money would go to ACORN! From Hot Air:

House Republicans refused to support the Henry Paulson/Chris Dodd compromise bailout plan yesterday afternoon, even after the New York Times reported that Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson got down on one knee to beg Nancy Pelosi to compromise.  One of the sticking points, as Senator Lindsey Graham explained later, wasn’t a lack of begging but a poison pill that would push 20% of all profits from the bailout into the Housing Trust Fund — a boondoggle that Democrats in Congress has used to fund political-action groups like ACORN and the National Council of La Raza

Would you want that to pass?

Most Americans are not in favor of a bail out. Most Republicans do not favor a bail out. Newt Gingrich has not favored a bail out to save our economy. (Emphasis mine)

Newt Gingrich:  Well, the last time we were promised they were going to save us, it was $300 billion; it was a housing bill.  And what liberal Democrats in Congress did, for example, was add $500 million a year for a left-wing activist group called Acorn.  Now, I can’t imagine why we’d want the taxpayer to give $500 million a year to a left-wing activist group, but it’s in the bill which the Bush administration signed and that was only back in July and that was going to solve everything.  That was $300 billion ago.

Now we have a brand-new, liberal Democrats, many of whom, for example, Chris Dodd, was the largest single recipient of money from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and he is the chairman of the Banking Committee.  So the guy who got the most money is now going to write a bill to give taxpayers money to the people who gave him money.  Somehow, I am not reassured.

The House GOP (Republicans) have presented a plan of their own. It is more of a Work Out than Bail Out. Gingrich also favors a Work Out that would include borrowing at 2% not bailing.

I may just be a Home Economist, but I know we need to do something. If the average American was in better financial shape, not carrying around $8,000 debt on their credit card and not one paycheck away from financial disaster, I might be inclined to just tough it out.

Gingrich recommended that Republican leaders like Boehner, DeMint, Shelby, and McCain meet to put together a proposal Americans will support. Then the people will put the pressure on the Democrats in Congress to pass it, much like public pressured Congress to drill for domestic oil. But since Harry Reid just stuck a ban on domestic oil shale drilling onto an appropriations bill, while this crisis is going on, so much for listening to the will of the people and doing what this country needs.

Heaven help us. I mean that literally.

Fastest growing new religion gains one more convert

By Kyle Prast
Monday, Apr 14 2008, 07:52 PM

You may have thought this post was going to be about the rapidly spreading religion of Islam, but it is not.

This fastest growing religion I am referring to is the religion of Global Warming, and its most recent, prominent convert is the President of the United States.

I call Global Warming a religion, and rightly so, because in its present form, it is not science.

Religious beliefs require faith: faith in something not seen or provable.

Science is defined by Encarta as: "the system of advancing knowledge by formulating a question, collecting data about it through observation and experiment, and testing a hypothetical answer." "Science, limits itself to what can be observed, measured and verified." Scientists use the Scientific Method to "explain the events of nature in a reproducible way."  In other words, you test the theory and if it is repeatable, then the theory moves ahead to be considered true science.

Over 19,000 American scientists have signed a petition rejecting the idea that man made greenhouse gases cause Global Warming, but we don't hear much about that! The website ICECAP does an excellent job of presenting a different view of Global Warming.

At best, when scientists first observed a warming trend, Global Warming could have been called a theory. But in recent years, people have bypassed the theory adjective and jumped toward embracing Global Warming as an undebatable fact. This transition from theory to fact was done without any scientific proof. Those who promote Global Warming no longer even refer to it as a theory.

As more and more data is collected, most of the Global Warming alarmist predictions are not proving to point to the doom and gloom that the planet is warming. In fact, temperatures this past year point to something else: a cooling of the planet.

It seems however, that no matter how much counter Global Warming evidence is presented, the faithful and most politicians are still blindly chanting the mantra that the planet is doomed to heat up unless we do something to control CO2 emissions soon.

According to an article in the Washington Post today, our President is now chanting the mantra too--Bush prepares global warming initiative: (Emphasis added)

"This is an attempt to move the administration and the party closer to the center on global warming. With these steps, it is hoped that the debate over this is over, and it is time to do something," said an administration source close to the White House who is familiar with the planning and who said to expect an announcement this week...

...Still, Republican members of Congress who were briefed last week let top administration officials know that they think the White House if making a mistake, according to congressional sources and others familiar wit the discussions. Opponents said Mr. Bush could be setting off runaway legislation, particularly with Democrats in control of Congress.

One of the things we are doing at present is jumping on the ethanol bandwagon to reduce our carbon footprint. In fact reducing the carbon footprint is one of the cornerstones of this new religion.

Like another religion in bygone years, this Global Warming religion also provides the opportunity to purchase Indulgences to atone for breaking the rules. In our new Global Warming religion, we call these Indulgences, Carbon Credits.

All 3 of our Presidential candidates favor the practice of using Indulgences for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Of course, they do not call them as such, they call them, "a cap-and-trade system, such as the Europeans have. The system sets an overall limit on carbon emissions and allows polluters to buy credits from companies that stay below their carbon targets."

"..Congressional and administration sources said it's not clear whether Mr. Bush will go that far this week." So we don't know how deep President Bush's conversion is.

Brian Kennedy, spokesman for the Institute for Energy Research stated the US is already ahead of Europe:

"US taxpayers are already spending more than $40 billion a year to address climate change, and to date we're achieving better results than the Europeans... ...That should be kept in mind before any rash--or political--decisions are made inside the White House. Excessive regulations would come with significant economic consequences and additional costs for consumers."

Considering fuel and food prices are already through the roof, our economy does not need the further encumbrance of mandates and extra fees.

Thankfully, not all politicians are being indoctrinated into the new religion, but because there is so much political pressure to jump on the bandwagon (become a believer), resisting is difficult. Our Congressman James Sensenbrenner and Illinois Congressman John Shimkus "told the White House it was making a mistake" to call for congressional action on this.

You may wish to drop Congressman Sensenbrenner an email or give him a phone call, (262) 784-1111, to encourage him in his fight against global warming initiatives. Or, tell Congressman Sensenbrenner in person. He will be hosting a Town Hall meeting on Sunday, April 27th at 1pm at the Brookfield Safety Building.

ICECAP A great source for alternative views

2008 Climate Debate: "Over the past few years, more than 19,000 American scientists have signed a dissenting petition coauthored by Dr. Frederick Seitz, renowned physicist and former president of the National Academy of Sciences, and Dr. Arthur Robinson, president of the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine (www.oism.org/pproject)". The petition urges political leaders to "reject the Gore-supported Kyoto Protocol or other similar proposals that would mandate draconian tax and regulatory measures aimed at virtually all human economic activity"...

..."As the NIPCC (Nongovernmental International Panel of Climate Change) report, Nature, Not Human Activity, Rules the Climate, points out, the hard data from satellites and weather balloons shows the exact opposite of the predictions of the IPCC and the climate alarmist choir: a slight cooling with altitude in the troposphere and slight warming on the surface."

Obama's $845 billion for Global Poverty bill? Call your Senator NOW!

By Kyle Prast
Friday, Feb 15 2008, 02:38 PM

Oh, I am getting so tired of all this watchdogging, calling, and emailing our officials, but the alternative is to let these bad bills pass. This one is not just about a huge amount of money; our national sovereignty is at stake.

For those of you who think Barack Obama does not have much of a record to run on, his Global Poverty Act bill ought to tell you a lot about this young senator.

Vicki McKenna cued her listeners into this unbelievable bill yesterday. (She really does have a nose for news!) She explained, The Global Poverty Act takes .7% of our G.D.P. and sends it to the UN to fight global poverty. She also reminded us that the UN is not a very efficient charity and only sends out about 5 cents from every dollar received--not to mention their bad track record on plans such as Oil for Food.

This estimated $845 billion dollars, the .7% of our G.D.P., is in addition to what we already send for foreign aid. This new bill would add up to $1,000,000,000,000 over 15 years. (That is trillion with a T) But the money is the least of our concerns.

Think we don't have to worry about this bill? It will never pass?

Think again.

It already passed the House! According to Glenn Beck, "it already has passed the House mainly because people didn't read it. "

Read the entire Glenn Beck posting. It's chock full of important things to consider before casting your vote for President like: UN Rights of the Child, Kyoto protocol, Convention on Biological Diversity, and spending $210 billion for, in essence, a new kind of WPA project.

This Senate bill 2433 sounds so outrageous, you might think it is an Urban Legend. Sadly, it is not.

Family Research Council posted this: (Direct link unavailable, emphasis added. No, I am not for Huckabee.)

"Less than a day after the President agreed to put more money in taxpayers' pockets, the U.S. Senate is attempting to take some of those dollars back. The Global Poverty Act, while seemingly charitable and big-hearted, sounds nicer than it really is...

"...In addition to surrendering more dollars, the U.S. would also be required to surrender some of its own sovereignty over foreign aid by putting it under UN control. The bill would force the U.S. to sign onto the U.N.'s Millennium Declaration, which would commit us not only to "banning small arms and light weapons," but also to ratifying a series of objectionable treaties such as the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), the International Criminal Court Treaty, the Kyoto Protocol (global warming), the Convention on Biological Diversity, and so on. Considering the magnitude of the legislation, one would think that the Senate would proceed with caution. Not so!...

That posting concluded with: "Unreal. If that does not scare you, I don't know what will. Take action to stop this bill now."

I couldn't agree more.

Our own dear Senator Russ Feingold was a cosponsor too, but call or email his office anyway.

This bill was steamrolled through the Senate committee without hearings.

Better to SAVE than to be LOST

By Kyle Prast
Friday, Nov 2 2007, 09:11 AM

The SAVE Act and LOST Treaty are perfect examples of how it does not matter which party affiliation promotes the policy, what matters is the policy!

The SAVE Act,  Secure America with Verification and Enforcement, "Requires every employer to use electronic verification system on every employee", says NumbersUSA. That sounds good to me. The irony of this bill is that it is being introduced by a Democrat, Heath Shuler.

I am not sure if the Democrats finally got the message that Americans do not support amnesty for illegals when their DREAM Act failed to pass the Senate last week, but this bill is a step in the right direction.

Some Republican Congressmen are supporting it too; Rep. Tom Tancredo of Colorado is a co-sponsor. Maybe they sense this is an important issue to most Americans and we are 1 year away from election time! (I just heard Friday that Congressman Sensenbrenner introduced another bill on illegal immigration. I don't know at this time how that one compares.)

The NumbersUSA email alert I received made an excellent point that I had not thought of. When companies use illegals, they are forcing other companies who hire legal workers out of business. This is because the illegal hire company can pay their workers less. It is rather like outsourcing jobs without leaving the country! Would Democrats approve of companies forming strategies to allow employers to circumvent their newly pushed for and passed minimum wage laws? No, but the majority of the party see nothing wrong with helping illegals stay here and work.

Contact Congressman Sensenbrenner and urge him to support SAVE

Now about the LOST Treaty , short for the Law Of the Sea Treaty. It should stand for Loss of Our Sovereignty Treaty!

This is the most serious sovereignty issue since THE UN RIGHTS OF THE CHILD Treaty back in President Clinton's day. But this LOST Treaty is being promoted by Republican President Bush. Words cannot express my disgust.

Our Fonding Fathers will roll over in their graves with this one. Why we would be willingly giving up our rights to National sovereignty is beyond me. It is truly Taxation Without Representation, plus a whole lot more!

LOST deals with under sea mining and exploration, a World Court power to settle disputes, pollutants and more.

Glen Beck states, "This is really about socialism; the systematic redistribution of wealth; and usurping of your rights as a citizen of this country. One of the original creators of this treaty was a public supporter of one-world government; a woman who saw LOST as a trial balloon for developing a, quote 'common global constitution.' "

The LOST Treaty made it out of committee in the Senate, the first step to passage.

If you wish to keep Americas sovereignty, I urge you to contact our two senators about LOST.
