City government has a duty to cut spending in all areas and salaries and benefits are just one area.

See the web for police and fire department salaries.

The latest municipal judge salary was $28,500 annual with no health insurance or other personal allowances.

You're not rich, but you are surely above average. If the citizens of a community are to debate the pay scale for certain employees, I think we should look at the occupation, hours spent on the job, and the value we are getting back. To rant about an amount without knowing what we are getting for it is ignorant. For all we know, there could be a $15,000 per year librarian that is sleeping in the storage room all day. I'd be more concerned about that $15,000 than a $90,000 per year attorney who saved taxpayers millions by doing a good job. I'm as hard right as they get when holding public employees accountable, but I believe in knowing all my facts before shooting my mouth off.

Greed is what it's all about! Everyone seems to think they should be paid more than they are.

You've listed none of the occupations in order for us readers to make our own judgement. I will say that I am not a big advocate for overpaid city employees, but I also understand that $90,000 per year is not an obscene amount of money and some occupations command that much for good people. For instance, upper level civil engineers, mayors, some JUDGES, and attorneys working for municipalities may merit that pay range.

Every article that critisizes and tries to stir up thought should contain all the information needed to make an educated opinion. Yours' sounds like just another rant against government.

When I was a kid, the law required that the motorist bring his vehicle to a complete stop at the sign, then proceed when traffic allowed.

Currently a STOP sign seems to mean "Go right on through like a bat out of hell if there is a chance that, by hesitating at the sign, you might be forced to yield the right of way to someone else!

But having read your blog entry, I find I must agree with your conclusions.

First and foremost, the Cubs are good!

Second, the Brewers are talented, but young.

Last, I too used to believe that Yost is just too nice a guy. But there's more to it than that. When a coach leaves a pitcher in long enough to hand out seven runs in an inning, he's plumb out of good reasons why a big league team ought to keep him as coach!
