Village of Shorewood residents and guests will get to experience what makes Shorewood such a great place to live, work and shop during the second annual “Showcase Shorewood” on Saturday, September 15. From fine art and fine crafts created by local talent, to sidewalk sales, musical entertainment and a business expo, the Shorewood business district will showcase all the great reasons to Shop Shorewood - Spend the Day!
Bring the whole family and enjoy a great day in the Village of Shorewood. Shop our stores and boutiques, have coffee or dinner in one of our cafes or award-winning restaurants. And stop by the high school grounds and discover one-of-a-kind artwork by local artists and talk to area business owners. Showcase Shorewood will be staged throughout the business district along Oakland Ave. and Capitol Dr. from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The day’s festivities will include:
- Sidewalk sales staged by area retailers throughout the business district. - Well-known caricature artist Bill Begos will be drawing free caricature portraits in front of Harry W. Schwartz Bookshops, 4093 N. Oakland Ave. from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. - A fine art and fine craft fair on the lawn of Shorewood High School, 1701 E. Capitol Dr., featuring fiber, jewelry, ceramics, leather, glass, painting, photography and mixed media by local and regional artists. - A business expo on the high school grounds featuring area businesses and community groups. - Live music performed by local talent on the high school grounds all day from 10-5. - Rummage To Benefit the Arts: A rummage sale in the high school’s north gym to benefit the art department and Art Club. - Face painting by the Art Club on the high school grounds. - See a fire engine truck at the high school and learn about fire-fighting equipment and safety, compliments of the North Shore Fire Department. - A visit from crime-fighting dog McGruff, the mascot of the North Shore Police Department and Seymour Savings, the mascot of North Shore Bank.
Shoppers can see all the action by enjoying free trolley rides from 11-3 along Oakland Ave. and Capitol Dr., compliments of Northshore Funeral Services and the Shorewood Men’s Club. Also, food and beverages will be for sale from the Shorewood Booster Club on the high school grounds to benefit student-athletes.
